1. Introduction: Building a Picture with Words
Describing a place effectively means helping the reader picture where you are and feel what it is like to be there.
Whether you are describing your hometown, a peaceful park, a bustling market, or your own bedroom, every good description relies on four primary building blocks:
Where is it located?
Country, city, neighborhood, position.
What does it look and feel like?
Quiet, noisy, big, cozy, ancient.
What exists there?
Buildings, trees, furniture, shops.
What can you sense?
What you can see, hear, or smell.
2. Key Grammar Structures
Before diving into vocabulary, let's master the three essential sentence patterns used for describing places.

Pattern 2: IT IS + Adjectives
Use It is followed by descriptive adjectives to describe size, condition, or feeling.

Pattern 3: IT HAS + Features
Use It has (or Subject + has) to list specific parts, rooms, or features belonging to a place.
