Mastering Invitations
Learn how to write clear, friendly, polite, and professional invitations for different occasions.
The Core Elements of Every Invitation
Every good invitation—whether formal or informal—should clearly communicate the essential information guests need. A simple way to remember this is the 5 Ws.
Who?
Who is hosting the event, and who is invited?
What?
What is the occasion, such as a birthday, wedding, dinner, or graduation?
When?
Include the exact date and time of the event.
Where?
Give the venue, address, or online meeting link.
RSVP
Tell guests how and when they should confirm their attendance.
RSVP comes from the French phrase “Répondez s'il vous plaît”, meaning “Please reply.”
